What’s the baggage allowance on the Everest Base Camp trek

What's the baggage allowance on the Everest Base Camp trek?

On the flights to & from Lukla, via either Kathmandu or Ramechhap, the weight limit is 15kg per person on the airline that we use, Summit Airlines. You can take more than this if you want to as we do get some customers who bring some video or photography equipment which isn't light. Obviously not the kitchen sink but if you do go over the 15 kg limit it's quite cheap to take it on the flight. It's less than £1 per kg in excess baggage costs so more than affordable. Occasionally some people on the trek take between 20 to 25 kg's and our porters are able to carry that amount if needed. However, It's also worth noting that during busy periods the airlines do limit the bags to 15kg so unless you have a special request, we recommend that you aim to keep your bag to 15kg or less.

Don't forget, if you're coming on a trek with us, you can use one of our 80 ltr EverTrek duffel bags on the trek. This enables you to leave your travel bag or suitcase at the hotel in the secure baggage room. You can store a few things that you don't necessarily need on your trek like a clean pair of clothes, souvenirs etc. This can save you some weight on the trek.
