Prayer Flags, Cold Noses & Base Camp

Last night whilst sipping a cup of coffee sat out in the garden, listening to the birds tweeting away whilst on Twitter(Same Same but different right?!) and catching up on some social Facebook stuff, an old EverTrek post jumped out and hit me smack bang in my face!

It was an article I had written wayyyyyy back in the 2016 about the last couple of days of my first trek to Everest Base Camp.

(You can check out the blog of the last couple of days right here as well as the rest of the journey)

I couldn't resist and re-read those last 2 posts that I had written as they were super powerful and reminded me about what it felt like in that moment, in what seems like a long time ago now.

As I was reading it, I got that warm fuzzy feeling of excitement!

The only way I can describe this feeling is that it felt like I was about to pack my bags and jump on a plane again off on another adventure.

All this with butterflies twisting in the pit of my stomach. It's the proverbial travel itch that never quite goes away!

Have you ever felt this one?

After finishing reading I could have literally booked my flight to Nepal right there and then.(Can't wait to get back there for Mera Peak in November)

The one thing that really stood out from reading my blog was the last couple of paragraphs that I had wrote.

" I would never be the same again. Although an amazing moment in my life it was also one of the most difficult and challenging and that's what made it for me. I had never pushed myself like that but knew that I could do it again.

The journey in these amazing mountains would soon come to an end but I couldn't wait to see what other journeys life had in store for me
."

A bit deep and philisophical I know but the point I was trying to make whilst writing that in Gorakshep on my laptop, clearly oxygen deprived, was that I had enjoyed the suffering in a strange kind of way. It had made it that extra bit special!

That's why this month I wanted to share this with you.

Taking on a challenge like Everest Base Camp completely changed my life.

I didn't know it at the time but having achieved something that I had previously thought was out of my reach and unobtainable base of my old limiting belief that I couldn't do it physically due fitness and my struggle with asthma was a complete game changer!

It was like a switch had been turned on.

In my mind it was 'What else out there can I do?'

Since writing that article we've had the privilege to be part of 1000's of our EverTrekkers journey on treks like Everest base camp, Kilimanjaro and Machu Picchu and heaps more.

They had chosen to trek there and go through the suffering of the challenge for many reasons. To raise money for charity, to see the epic views or even just to challenge themselves.

Whatever the reason for booking the trek, I know that upon their return, EVERYONE gets affected in some positive way.

EVERYONE changes after a trek like that.

You can't help but be swept up by it all whilst trekking in places like the Himalayas or Tanzania.

It certainly leaves its imprint on you that's for sure.

So this month, if whilst sipping your own cup of tea or coffee and you want to get all jazzed up ready for your next adventure, give the rest of my first trek to Everest Base Camp a little read right here.

It's a little rough around the edges and needs some editing but you will get the raw version of what it's like to trek to Everest Base Camp with a few bumps along the way.

I hope you enjoy and have an awesome month of adventures.

Keep EverTrekking
